Aprilia Futura - Setting the dash
There are several adjustments you can make to the dash of the Aprilia RST 1000 Futura, using the Mode and Set buttons.
They are:
- Switching between fuel level and ambient air temperature
- Switching between total mileage and tripmeter (and re-setting the trip meter)
- Adjusting the instrument light brightness
- Setting the clock

You need to see the following page if you want to re-set the Service light:
: Unlike some of the other Aprilia 1,000cc bikes, you can't switch between miles/kilometres and metric/imperial measurements for temperature and fuel level. These are factory pre-sets.
Aprilia helpfully point out that you shouldn't attempt any of these while on the move.
Switching between fuel level and ambient air temperature
Easy, this. When you switch the ignition on, the default is fuel level display. Just press and release the Mode key to switch to air temp readout, and press it again to return to fuel level display.
The temperature range displayed is between -20C (-4F) and 50C (122F). When the air temp hits 3C (37.4F), even if you're showing fuel level readout, the temp readout will flash to warn you of possible ice.
Switching between total mileage and tripmeter (and re-setting the trip meter)
This one's a bit more fiddly, given the less than positive nature of the buttons on the dash.
When you switch the ignition on, the default setting is the bike's total mileage. To switch to the trip meter, wait three seconds after turning the key then press and release the Set button.
To re-set the trip meter, select the trip, then press and hold the Set button for three seconds until the trip zeroes.
Adjusting the instrument light brightness
This one's considerably more fiddly. You can adjust the classy blue backlighting on the clocks between three settings - 100%, 60% and 25%.
Before switching on the ignition, turn the lights to 'on' and switch them to dip. Then turn the key to the on position and, within three seconds, press the Set button to toggle between the three settings.
This may take a few attempts. If you're too late, you'll be switching between total mileage and trip mileage. If this is the case, switch off and try again.
Setting the clock
With the ignition on, press and hold the Mode button until the 'hours' segment of the clock flashes on and off.
Release the Mode button and use the Set key to set the hour.
Then press the Mode key to confirm and the minutes will flash. Set the minutes using the Set key in the same way as before.
To confirm the minutes setting, press the Mode key and you're done.
