Light Switch

The right handlebar light switch on the Aprilia RST 1000 Futura has been known to come apart, especially if you’re not careful with it.

When this happens the part you operate with your thumb pings off with great force – that’s because there’s a tiny spring with a ball bearing on the end which locates the switch cleanly in the on, off or park position.

In my case I was a little too rough turning my lights off, and the switch flew off. I found the toggle and stuck it back on. There was no chance of finding the tiny spring and ball bearing, but they are in my garden somewhere…

The result is the action of the switch is less positive, but the lights still stay on so it’s okay.

Apparently this only applies to UK/EU models as US models don’t have light switches.
